Initial Biomechanics Consult + Private Training - 90 minutes

Our comprehensive initial consult involves a gait and/or activity assessment, where we analyse your gait cycle in slow motion and highlight dysfunctions present. This is a crucial part of the appointment as it enables us to tailor a program that suits your body and not just a cookie cutter approach. Following this, we will take you through myofascial release techniques that may help you to get on top of any dysfunctions we have pointed out. Specific postural correctives, chambers and dynamic exercises may follow depending on how your body handles each level of exercise.

We believe in teaching you about your body so that you are able to identify/feel and correct any imbalances. This 90 minute analysis is incredible value and will leave you feeling empowered, educated and driven to make the changes your body requires to function optimally. Functional Patterns Brisbane is the thing you have been looking for to finally correct your imbalances, cure your chornic pain and move + feel better than you ever have.

Subsequent Private training - 60 Minutes

Following your initial consult, we will continue to build on the techniques you learned through chambers, correctives and dynamic exercise. As gait cycle results are our number one metric to judge objectively your progress, we will usually take video again of running/sprinting/your specific activity during these sessions. Throughout your sessions, we will work on breaking down the dysfunctions that lead to your pain while building new, functional patterns. This will result in a dramatic decrease in pain while improving movement, agility, strength, posture, aesthetic and overall quality of life.

Partner training is by enquiry only - this service would only be accepted if both clients are at a similar level and with no extreme dysfunctions.

Pre-conceived concepts that I’ve had from the past are getting replaced. I have started to let the training infiltrate my daily living in ways of breathing, eating, thinking, walking and exercise. The sessions set out to build a solid foundation for the body to move well and efficiently. I’m getting a better understanding of my body, so that I can be pain free and live well as I age. Highly recommend being part of the Functional Patterns community.

Infrared Sauna

One practice we have noticed that combines well with our training is the use of infrared light to stimulate mitochondrial function. We have an infrared sauna on site which you can purchase use of as a one off or in a package. The sauna fits two people, so you can go in with a friend or relax by yourself.

Saunas have also been shown to have amazing benefits for detoxing. We view the body as a whole and understanding that chronic pain must be tackled from multiple pathways.

We also have a medical grade red/infrared light panel from Joovv available for use at our centre - this provides a similar effect to the sauna without as much of the sweat sensation. Recently voted in Forbes top 5 tech gadgets for health, check out the research that Joovv has been performing on a whole lot of medical conditions/performance metrics HERE.

myofascial release

Myofascial release (MFR) therapy focuses on releasing muscular shortness and tightness. It can be likened to a deep tissue massage that focuses primarily on tight, knotted areas of your muscle and fascia. For more information on MFR, please see the E-Book available in the ‘Resources’ tab.

Patient symptoms that have been successfully treated with MRF include:

  • Tightness of the tissues that restricts motion or pulls the body out of alignment, causing individuals to favour and overuse one hip or shoulder, for example

  • A sense of excessive pressure on muscles or joints that produces pain

  • Pain in any part or parts of the body, including headache or back pain.

Our expert practitioners are trained in various massage techniques but prefer to use MFR as it has shown the most profound benefits for pain relief and postural correction.

Their knowledge of biomechanics and myofascial release has allowed us to break down the dysfunctions in my body, we’ve greatly reduced the amount of pain that I deal with every day and some long term issues have already disappeared completely.

Learning lots of new techniques from the FP team, in order to try and strengthen areas that have been causal to these injuries. Good mix of people in classes and great venue to learn and improve functionally in.
