THE BOXING FOR Balance 6 Week Program
Boxing for fitness that fixes how you move — not just how hard you punch.
If you’ve tried boxing classes for fitness and they felt like chaotic cardio, burnout, or “just sweat harder” — this is different.
Boxing for Balance is a 6-week boxing for fitness program in Brisbane designed to build conditioning and correct the movement patterns that most boxing classes ignore.
You’ll train real boxing.
But you’ll also train balance, symmetry, coordination, and force transfer — the things that determine whether boxing makes you fitter… or just reinforces the same imbalances.
This program is coached by Max, an avid fighter, Functional Patterns trainer and biomechanics specialist known for working with people who have:
long-standing hip and spine issues
scoliosis or asymmetrical loading patterns
disc histories
chronic tightness that flares up under intensity

Boxing exposes every imbalance you have — stance, hips, shoulders, breathing — especially under fatigue. Boxing for Balance uses that to your advantage. Instead of masking flaws with sweat, you train the mechanics that actually improve performance and longevity. That’s why people feel better as they get fitter.
What you’ll do over 6 weeks
A structured program — not random workouts
Each week builds on the last so you actually improve.
You’ll train:
Stance and footwork to improve balance and ground connection
Hip and torso rotation so power comes from your body, not your neck or shoulders
Shoulder and rib control to punch without overloading joints
Conditioning that matches boxing, not generic HIIT
You’ll learn:
boxing combinations for fitness that reinforce symmetry
boxing combos for fitness that match your stance and mechanics
boxing drills for fitness that clean up coordination and timing
This is a boxing for fitness workout for beginners — but the standard is quality, not difficulty.
Why “Boxing for Balance” works To Improve Posture & Coordination
Most boxing for fitness classes chase fatigue first.
We chase balance and mechanics first, because:
imbalance shows up faster under fatigue
sloppy mechanics limit fitness gains
better coordination = better conditioning
Boxing naturally exposes:
left/right asymmetries
rotation bias
weak links between feet, hips, ribs, and shoulders
Instead of ignoring that, we use boxing as feedback:
If you always load one hip → we correct it
If your shoulders dominate → we rebuild the base
If your stance collapses under fatigue → we train it
That’s why people feel fitter and move better.
What results people notice
People often join for “fitness” and stay because they notice:
Better balance and stance endurance
More even loading through hips and shoulders
Cleaner coordination when tired
Improved posture without cueing it all day
Conditioning that carries over to daily life
If you’re wondering is boxing good for fitness?
Yes — when taught with structure and intent.

FP has helped me more than I thought possible. After 15+ years of relentless pain and dysfunction I am able to say I am close to completely pain free, in an impressive timeframe, thanks to Max.

Been training with Max for about 3 months now. All the aches and niggles of 10+ years as a tradie have pretty much disappeared, I feel amazing. Max pushes hard for results and is very knowledgeable as are the rest of the awesome team at Brisbane FP

I have been working with Max at Functional Patterns Brisbane twice a week for approx 6 month. Before Functional patterns I had back and shoulder pain and would regularly see chiropractors to help manage the pain. In my time training with Max I haven’t been back to the Chiropractor once. Max is exceptionally patient, great at explaining the benefits of each movement and how with these actions am undoing years of substandard movements.
